ModelCar Mercedes Benz SSK 1930 The Black Prince from CMC Modelcars. Count Tiossi, "Didi" for his friends, was of an old Italian banking family He loved racing. He was the second president of the racing team of Enzo Ferrari and came in second at the Mille Miglia in 1933, as well as in several other races during the Grand-Prix-Season 1934. In 1930 Mercedes shipped a chassis of the SSK for exhibition in Tokyo and returned to Stuttgart the same year. Shortly there after it was shipped to Mercedes in Rome. Count Trossi bought the chassis. He shortened it from 3400 to 2950 mm, and sent it to England for individual styling. This was done by the Englishman Willie White. He changed the blocky appereance of the SSK into an elgant sporty automobile. An automobile historian remembers Count Trossi not so much as a race driver, but as the owner of one of the most beautiful and individual pre-war automobiles.
